Ecoswelling is a cellulase enzyme preparation produced using a genetically modified strain of trichoderma reesei, specially designed to enhance inter-fibre bonding and reduction of refiner energy consumption. The main activities are endo -1, 4-β-D glucanase and cellobiohydolase. By encouraging fibrillation in virgin Pulp and restoring microfibrils in recycled pulp, better paper properties may be obtained with improved machine runnabilty and reduced impurities in secondary fibre.

Selected Endo-glucanases open the fibre surface which enables the refiner to create fibrillation at lower energy, thus causing less damage to the fibre. As a result, either refining energy can be saved and/or strength properties could be optimized. Fines and hydro- colloids in the paper-recycling process inhibit efficient paper machine drainage.

The preferred process conditions for the product are:

pH of pulp            :             4.5 – 7

Temperature       :             30 0 – 65 0C

Treatment Time :             30 – 60 minutes


Dosages are application dependent. Typical dose: 0,8 – 1 kg/ton of OD Pulp


At room temperature the activity of Ecoswelling will not decrease below 90 % of the declared activity within 3 months from the date of shipment. Storage at 5 – 10oC reduces the activity loss and can prolong the maximum storage period. The product should be protected from freezing.


Standard protective equipment should always be used while handling the product. Any spillages of the product should be washed away with cold water. Attention needs to be paid as per the natural prescribed local health regulations. Please refer MSDS of the product for further information.
